At The BUSY School we recognize the importance of providing the opportunity to improve social, educational and employment outcomes of young people, in particular, those who have disengaged or who are at risk of disengaging from education and not completing high school.
All students develop an Individual Learning Plan and Career and Pathways plan in consultation with our Employment Pathways Officer, Learning Support, teaching staff and parents/carers, aligned with students’ interests, strengths and ability. Students are given the opportunity to guide their own learning journeys, as well as enter into the workplace. The education program provides students at The BUSY School with the opportunity to work towards their Alberta High School Diploma.
Students will study core academic subjects and engage with the following vocational training opportunities:
- Career Technology Studies (CTS)
- Knowledge and Employability (K + E) Occupational Courses
- Off-Campus education:
– Work Experience
– Work Practicum
– Registered Apprenticeship Program
– Internships
– Green Certificate Program
Additional curriculum offered
The BUSY School will offer the Dual Credit Programme to select students. This programme provides students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 the opportunity to work towards gaining both high school credits and credits that count towards a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree, including a journey person certificate.
The BUSY School will form partnerships with post-secondary providers to facilitate and manage these courses for students.
The BUSY School’s flexible learning model combines on-campus and off-campus learning to accommodate diverse student needs.
